About Your Coach
Hey, I’m Gilbert! My life’s work has been around talking with people about important parts of their lives and challenging them to do the best they can in those areas—all while trying to make it as fun as possible. I understand you may have important goals you want to accomplish in your life. Maybe you don’t know quite yet how you should start or if you should even start at all. Let’s slow it down to take on one thing at a time. Through our work, you can simplify things for yourself, gain a fresh perspective, and take the best course of action.
I was born to connect with people. I’m a son of two immigrant parents and engaged with all sorts of customers at their restaurant throughout my teenage years and young adulthood. After I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BA in Communication, I moved to Shanghai, China, to be an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. I got to travel and meet people from all over the world when I was there. Once I returned to the US, I advised high school students on the college application process. I supported them as they grappled with difficult choices like how to spend their time in fulfilling ways, which colleges to invest their energy into, and how to express themselves in their college essays authentically.
Those professional experiences—along with my own personal experiences of navigating adulthood and building up my mental health—led me to life coaching. I’m a Certified Youth Resilience Coach through the highly credible organization, the Youth Coaching Institute. I’m able and willing to coach adults of all ages. With my training and experience, you’ll get a coach who listens to what you have to say much more than he talks, is curious and nonjudgmental about your thoughts, and believes that you already have the answers within you to make progress toward your goals. My job isn’t to tell you what to do or what to think. My job is to give you a clear space so you can explore and determine what is best for yourself. You got this!
