Transfer to another college
Sometimes the best path for you is not the straightest or the most obvious. You may be looking to transfer for a multitude of reasons: changing your academic direction, wanting a different social climate, needing to be closer to home, reassessing financial obligations, or simply wanting to have a different experience. We also work with students moving from a community college to a four-year institution, those that have been asked to leave for academic or disciplinary reasons or those that are looking for increased rigor and challenge.
The decision to make a change from one institution to another is a complicated one. When we begin to work with a potential transfer student, we go all the way back to why they chose their current college in the first place, what they like, and what they would like to change. We probe where they have found success and where they might have struggled. In this way, we hope to avoid the "knee-jerk" transfer, where students choose the complete opposite of where they were and again end up unhappy.
Much like the college application process of the high school student, we discuss options, set targeted deadlines, brainstorm essays, review applications, and assess options.
College Matters works with transfer applicants on a Comprehensive or Hourly basis. Please contact us for more information.
